Heavy Rainfall Expected Through Thursday
What is the danger?
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), periods of rainfall will be returning to our area late this evening through Thursday morning. Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts are possible.
With grounds still wet from last week, these rainfall totals could lead to rises on area creeks, rivers and bayous and flooding of low-lying areas. Rainfall could affect driving conditions during tomorrow’s evening commute. Street flooding will be possible.
What you should do:
Residents are encouraged monitor local forecast and road conditions before their afternoon commute on Wednesday and before driving Thursday morning.
DRIVE SAFELY
- If you must travel never drive into high water and use extreme caution at underpasses and low-lying areas where water accumulates.
- Always remember to Turn Around, Don’t Drown! ® DO NOT DRIVE through high water and DO NOT DRIVE AROUND BARRICADES!
- Just 2 feet of water can sweep your vehicle away.
