What is the danger?
The National Weather Service is monitoring a tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico that is expected to move into the Texas coastal area Saturday. Currently, it only has a 10 percent chance of developing into a tropical depression or tropical storm over the next five days.
There is a potential for 3-5 inches of rainfall expected over the weekend. Shorts bursts of showers and thunderstorms may begin as early as today.
According to NWS, the current dry conditions will cause much of the rainfall to be absorbed in the ground. However, heavy rainfall over a short period could produce isolated areas of street flooding and ponding.
