Heavy Rainfall Expected Through Saturday
What is the danger?
According to the
National Weather Service (NWS), heavy rains are expected this afternoon through Saturday morning. A round of heavy rain is expected to move through by mid-evening today with showers and isolated thunderstorms gradually increasing throughout the day.
There is a Flash Flood Warning from 12 p.m. Friday to 12 p.m. Saturday. Dangerous driving conditions expected overnight and into Saturday. Strong winds and isolated tornadoes are possible. Street flooding is likely and run-off will cause water levels on bayous and rivers to rise.
What you should do:
Residents are encouraged to limit travel as much as possible after sunset this evening.
Prepare by clearing storm drain and roadside ditch culverts of leaves and debris. Leaves can collect during heavy rainfall and prevent proper drainage resulting in flooding
DRIVE SAFELY - If you must travel never drive into high water and use extreme caution at underpasses and low-lying areas where water accumulates.
- Always remember to Turn Around, Don’t Drown! ® DO NOT DRIVE through high water and DO NOT DRIVE AROUND BARRICADES!
