TXDOT | TXDOT officials urge motorists to be weather aware and avoid travel if conditions worsen with Hurricane Beryl

HOUSTON – As Hurricane Beryl draws near to southeast Texas, TxDOT is set to confront the storm's impact across the Houston District.  Effective, today the department has activated its local office Emergency Operations Center, maintaining around-the-clock staffing to ensure seamless coordination with regional partners for situational awareness and district-wide preparations.

TxDOT crews have been hard at work clearing drain inlets, inspecting fixed water-pump stations, and collaborating with project contractors to secure inlets, equipment, materials, and traffic control devices. The proactive measures are aimed at mitigating the storm's potential damage and ensuring public safety.

“With the likelihood of high water impacting the roadway network at any moment during this weather event, motorists are strongly urged to stay vigilant from today through Wednesday.” said Raquelle Lewis, Southeast Texas Communications Director. TxDOT ferry operations will remain in service as long as conditions permit and it is safe to do so. For the latest ferry updates, follow us on Twitter.
