May 1, 2024 HOUSTON – The Texas Department of Transportation announces a total closure of FM 1485 at the east fork of the San Jacinto River, until further notice. Due to flooding, the roadway has been submerged necessitating a total closure of the area, which spans both Harris and Montgomery counties. Motorists can expect delays during the closure and should consider an alternate route. TxDOT crews continue to monitor conditions as more rain is expected tonight. Additional closure information can be found at Houston TranStar. Closures are subject to change due to weather. TxDOT appreciates your patience and reminds you to not drive unless it’s necessary during inclement weather events. Remember, if you see standing water, turn around…don’t drown. Six inches of water will reach the bottom of most passenger cars causing loss of control and possible stalling. A foot of water will float many vehicles. Two feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles including sport utility vehicles (SUV’s) and pick-ups.
