(HARRIS COUNTY, TX) – Harris County Citizen Corps will hold the 18th Annual CERT Rodeo on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Harris County Fire & Sheriff’s Training Academy, 2318 Atascocita Road in Humble.
Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) from around the state will test their skills in medical operations, search and rescue, fire suppression, incident command, and hazmat recognition. Every year, more than 400 participants and volunteers contribute to the success of this event.
In 2024, CERT hit a significant milestone of individuals who have completed the CERT program to more than 63,000 trained volunteers since its inception in 2003. Throughout the year, CERT volunteers assisted with community events, drills, and exercises with first responders and emergency managers.
“Residents who complete the CERT program and practice these life-saving skills help ensure our community is more knowledgeable and better prepared,” said Harris County Citizen Corps Director Mark Sloan. “Our Harris County CERT teams play a crucial role in helping to build safer, more resilient communities.”
To participate in CERT, individuals must complete an extensive 24-hour course, taught by first responders over an 8-week period, to improve their proficiency in emergency preparedness basics that can be used in their homes, workplaces, and communities.
