The data points in this map represent Total Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) levels. The following explanation reflects our approach during the Deer Park Fire.
MAP EXPLAINED
-VOC: Volatile Organic Compound - Compounds that could be potentially harmful depending on type and concentration. This is different than measuring for particulates and ozone as found on the TCEQ AQI link below.
Total VOC 0PPM – 0.299 PPM -Green - No Hazard Requiring Further Investigation
Total VOC 0.3 PPM – 0.499 PPM - Green - Pending Further Investigation to Determine what specific VOC Compounds are present - If a hazardous VOC compound is found an alert will be publicly transmitted with actions to be performed. If no hazardous VOCs are found the area will remain green.
Total VOC greater than 0.5 PPM - Yellow - If a hazardous VOC compound is found an alert will be publicly transmitted with actions to be performed. If no hazardous VOCs are found the area will be reverted to Green.
PPM: Parts Per Million (concentration measurement)
TCEQ Air Quality Index (AQI) Particulate Matter and Ozone – MODERATE – Unusually sensitive people should consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion.
